Message to EPA Employees: Our Commitment to Ethics (June 5, 2024)
Dear Colleagues,
As EPA employees, we understand the importance of upholding public trust and maintaining the highest ethical standards. In everything we do, we must honor our commitment to public service by conducting ourselves ethically.
To help ensure that we meet and exceed federal ethical requirements, it is important that we regularly review our financial interests (including for spouses and minor children). Similarly, we must also regularly review our “covered relationships,” which include our outside activities and affiliations, and the employers or potential employers of a spouse, children (including adult children) and parents. Also, it is important to not participate in agency matters that create an actual or perceived conflict of interest or loss of impartiality.
To assist us in our continued commitment to a strong ethical culture, the Ethics Office has launched a new Ethics webpage. There, you will find vital resources and guidance to help you understand your ethical obligations and how to navigate them. Please visit the site and be sure to continue to reach out to the Ethics Office (ethics@epa.gov) and your own deputy ethics officials with questions.
Thank you, as always, for your unwavering commitment to protecting public health and the environment while upholding the agency’s high ethical standards.
Sincerely,
Michael S. Regan
Administrator
