Protecting Our Climate by Reducing Use of HFCs

  • 2025 HFC Allowance Allocations

EPA allocates HFC allowances for 2025 (10/1/2024).

  • Final Emissions Reduction and Reclamation Rule

EPA publishes a final rulemaking to manage certain HFCs and their substitutes (10/11/2024).

  • Hydrofluorocarbon Reclaim and Innovative Destruction Grants

EPA announces the selection of five applicants for $14.25 million in grants for reclamation and innovative destruction of HFCs.

Hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) are potent greenhouse gases (GHGs). The American Innovation and Manufacturing (AIM) Act authorizes EPA to address HFCs by: phasing down their production and consumption, maximizing reclamation and minimizing releases from equipment, and facilitating the transition to next-generation technologies through sector-based restrictions on HFCs. This website provides information on HFCs and the AIM Act.
