Get the Data
This section is for users who want to download Safer Choice data directly. If you're just looking to search for Safer Choice products, visit the Safer Choice Product Search page.
You can download the full dataset from the Envirofacts database using the Envirofacts RESTful API. The data is available in the following formats:
- CSV - Comma Separated Values.
- JSON - JavaScript Object Notation.
- Excel - Microsoft Excel.
- XML - Extensible Markup Language.

Use the Safer Choice Model and the Envirofacts RESTful API Documentation to understand the structure of the data and build custom queries. Safer Choice data is stored in a single table, described below.
Table Name: T_SAFERCHOICE_AND_DESIGN_FOR_THE_ENVIRONMENT Columns:
- PRODUCT NAME - A Safer Choice-labeled product that is made by a partner company.
- Type: VARCHAR2 | Length: 500
- COMPANY NAME - A company who has signed a partnership agreement with the Safer Choice program.
- Type: VARCHAR2 | Length: 250
- SECTOR - A category of products, including the audience (e.g., Consumer or Institutional/Industrial) as well as the product use such as all-purpose cleaners, laundry detergents, etc.
- Type: VARCHAR2 | Length: 500
- CATEGORY - Reported values of Industrial/Institutional Product or Consumer Product representing the audience.
- Type: VARCHAR2 | Length: 250
- CITY - The city name of the partner's location.
- Type: VARCHAR2 | Length: 150
- STATE - The state abbreviation for the partner's location.
- Type: VARCHAR2 | Length: 20
- PARTNER SINCE - The date a company signed a partnership agreement with the Safer Choice program.
- Type: VARCHAR2 | Length: 15
- FRAGRANCE-FREE - Safer Choice has verified that this product meets the Safer Choice Criteria for Fragrance-Free products.
- Type: VARCHAR2 | Length: 5
- OUTDOOR USE - Safer Choice encourages limiting direct releases to the environment. Where marketed for outdoor use, Safer Choice-certified products must contain ingredients that meet the Safer Choice Criteria for Chemicals in Direct Release Products. - PRODUCT URL - A unique URL leading to the product's listing on the certified product webpage.
- Type: VARCHAR2 | Length: 250
- COMPANY IN GOOD STANDING - An indication of whether the partner company that makes a product is up to date on its yearly partnership review with Safer Choice.
- Type: VARCHAR2 | Length: 250
- PROGRAM - The program the product is certified under.
- Type: VARCHAR2 | Length: 250
- GTIN - The Global Trade Item Number of the product.
- Type: NUMBER | Length: 250
- MPN - Manufacturer Part Number. It is a unique number that is issued by manufacturers to identify individual products.

Safe Drinking Water Information System (SDWIS)
SDWIS provides information about public water systems and how they comply with EPA drinking water standards. It includes data on violations, enforcement actions, and regulated contaminants. To learn more, visit the Drinking Water Regulations webpage.

Enforcement & Compliance History Online (ECHO)
About the Program
ECHO shows data about facility inspections, violations, enforcement actions, and penalties under key environmental laws such as the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, and the Safe Drinking Water Act. It includes data for the about 800,000 regulated facilities across the United States.
