Summary

Third Five-Year Review Started

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 7 has started the Third Five-Year Review for the Aluminum Company of America - Davenport Superfund site and the Mississippi River Pool #15 Superfund site. The two sites were addressed under one Record of Decision (ROD) dated September 28, 2004. The Third Five-Year Review will address both sites. Five-Year Reviews are required by the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA), commonly known as Superfund, when hazardous substances remain on-site above levels that permit unrestricted use and unlimited exposure.

Five-Year Reviews provide an opportunity to evaluate the site remedies to determine whether each remains protective of human health and the environment. This Five-Year Review Report should be completed by July 2027.

Site project information and previous Five-Year Reviews are available to the public at web repositories. To view cleanup documents, please visit EPA’s ALCOA Davenport and Mississippi River Pool #15 Site Profile pages at (see Site Documents & Data).
