Superfund and Technology Liaison Program

Superfund and Technology Liaisons

The Superfund and Technology Liaisons (STLs) are a team of scientists and engineers who serve as the primary technical liaisons for EPA’s ten regional offices on issues related to hazardous waste. STLs work to ensure that hazardous waste managers have access to EPA technical support that can help them make scientifically defensible decisions during site cleanup.

STL Responsibilities

The STLs support regional Superfund, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), and Brownfields programs by:

  • Providing direct technical support on topics for which they have expertise.
  • Coordinating technical assistance (including site-specific consultation) through EPA’s  Technical Support Centers (TSCs) and other sources of expertise.
  • Working with regional and ORD staff to communicate waste program research priorities and accomplishments.
  • Facilitating technology and information transfer through planning and conducting trainings, workshops.
