Summary

Public Comment Period and June 26 Public Meeting

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 7 is seeking public input on EPA’s Proposed Plan at the West Highway 6 & Highway 281 Superfund Site. This plan is EPA’s recommended cleanup solution to address soil contamination at Operable Unit 1 at the site. The Proposed Plan includes in-situ thermal remediation as the preferred remedial alternative.

On June 19, 2025, the Proposed Plan and supporting documents will be published online for public review on EPA's Site Profile page.

EPA will accept your comments from June 20 to July 19, 2025. You can provide input by phone, during the June 26 Public Meeting, or send written comments to:

EPA Public Meeting:

Thursday, June 26, from 6 to 7 p.m.
Hastings YMCA, STEM Room

Hastings, NE 68901

At 6 p.m., EPA will deliver a presentation about the Proposed Plan, followed by an opportunity for oral and written comments to be transcribed into the record. At 6:30 p.m., EPA will be available to talk with community members and take comments.
