EPA Requests Nominations for Experts to Serve on the May 8-10, 2018 FIFRA SAP on Efficacy Testing of Pesticides used for Invertebrate Pests and Fire Ants

On January 26, 2018, the Agency published a Federal Register notice requesting nominations of experts to serve as ad hoc members for the May 8-10, 2018 FIFRA SAP meeting to consider and review methods for efficacy testing of pesticides used for treatments of invertebrate pests and fire ants.

Nominations are due February 26, 2018.  Nominations can be provided by following the instructions in the FRN in docket EPA-HQ-OPP-2017-0693 in www.regulations.gov or by forwarding the nomination to the Designated Federal Official listed below.

Nominations should include scientists who have sufficient professional qualifications, training, and experience, including entomologists and other scientists who are generally familiar with pesticide efficacy testing and application methods for public health pests; those who are specifically familiar with premises pesticide efficacy testing for flies, cockroaches, yellow jackets, mosquitoes, and/or ticks; and those who are familiar with pesticide efficacy testing for control of field populations of red imported fire ants.

The FIFRA SAP serves as a primary scientific peer review mechanism of EPA’s Office of Chemical Safety and Pollution Prevention (OCSPP) and is structured to provide scientific advice, information and recommendations to the EPA Administrator on pesticides and pesticide-related issues as to the impact of regulatory actions on health and the environment. The Panel was created on November 28, 1975, and made a statutory Panel by amendment to FIFRA, dated October 25, 1988. Read more.
