Public Notice: Proposed Settlement with Tamarack Mill LLC for Clean Water Act Violations in Idaho
Summary
EPA is providing notice of a proposed administrative penalty settlement with Tamarack Mill, LLC, for violations of the Clean Water Act at its facility in New Meadows, Idaho.
EPA alleges that the respondent violated the terms of its National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit by failing to maintain good housekeeping measures, failing to document required facility inspections, failing to submit required visual assessments, failing to conduct spill prevention and response measures, failing to submit discharge monitoring reports, failing to document employee training, failing to maintain spill reduction measures, and failing to minimize contamination from certain areas of the facility.
Additionally, EPA alleges that the respondent discharged process wastewater to the Weiser River without Clean Water Act authorization.
This action is being simultaneously commenced and concluded in a legal document called a Consent Agreement and Final Order. Under the proposed agreement (see "related documents" below), Tamarack Mill will pay a civil penalty of $45,000.
