Summary

Systech operates a facility specialized in storage and treatment of hazardous waste that is burned as fuel in the adjacent Holcim cement kilns. The facility has a hazardous waste permit for storage of up to 228,000 gallons of hazardous waste in containers in a storage building, direct burn pad, and two drop and hook storage pads, and for treatment of up to 1,000 gallons of hazardous waste per hour in a container processing building. The facility is also authorized to store 910,000 gallons of hazardous waste in eleven (11) above ground tanks. Systech is permitted to treat up to 48,809 gallons of hazardous waste per hour in the eleven tanks.

Currently, the State of Ohio is not authorized by EPA to issue a permit for Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) organic air emissions. Therefore, EPA has drafted a Federal RCRA Permit to address organic air emissions from hazardous waste units at Systech.

This Federal Draft Permit will allow Systech to store, manage, and treat hazardous waste in tanks, containers, and two miscellaneous units.
