Subdirectory containing a suite of simulation examples. These relatively simple
examples are designed to demonstrate the basic features of the modeling
framework and their general impact on simulation results. The examples are
intended to be run from the top level directory of the SAGE package. See the
model documentation (section 6.4.1 and 6.4.2) for more information. The files
in this subdirectory are a mixture of files altering the SAGE model to impose a
policy shock and programs that act as controllers that launch the model
calculations.

contents:

abatement_requirement.gms
policy shock file for implementing hypothetical environmental regulations as
an abatement requirement. used in scenario_analysis.R.

basic_example.gms
gams based controller program for implementing the sample abatement
requirement policy. the basic example runs the baseline model, runs the
sample regulation as provided in examples/sample_abatement_requirment.gms and
  reports changes in select variables.

basic_example.R
R based controller program for implementing the sample abatement
requirement policy. the basic example runs the baseline model, runs the
sample regulation as provided in examples/sample_abatement_requirment.gms and
  reports changes in select variables.

consumption_tax.gms
policy shock file for implementing consumption taxes. used in
  consumption_tax.r.

consumption_tax.r
R based controller that produces a sensitivity analysis on the welfare costs
of an equivalent consumption tax change across sectors.

national_vs_regional.R
controller program that compares the results from the sample abatement
requirement from the dynamic model with and without regional delineation.

open_economy.r
controller program that compares model results of a sample abatement shock
when assuming a small vs. large open economy.

plot_results.r
controller program illustrating functions contained in
utilities/R_utilities.R for plotting model results and constructing pivot
  tables.

policy_phase_in_example.R
controller program for illustrating how a phased in environmental regulation
may be represented. the program uses the policy file
sample_phased_in_abatement_requirement.gms and is discussed in the
  documentation.

putty-clay_vs_putty-putty.R
controller program that compares the results of the sample abatement
requirement under the default partial putty-clay capital framework vs the
case of fully malleable capital under the putty-putty assumption

regulatory_modeling_approach.R
controller program that compares the output of the sample abatement
requirement when modeled as a productivity shock vs an explicitly abatement
requirement per unit of output. see the documentation for equivalent output.

sample_abatement_requirement.gms
example policy shock file that example simulations are based on.

sample_phased_in_abatement_requirement.gms
  policy file for examples/policy_phase_in_example.r.

scenario_analysis.R
controller program for running sensitivity analyses around hypothetical
regulations similar to those in marten et al. (2019). uses
  productivity_shock.gms to represent hypothetical regulations.

sensitivity_analysis_example.R
controller program that compares the output of the sample abatement
requirement when altering the compensated labor supply elasticity parameter.

static_vs_dynamic.R
compares the results from the sample abatement requirement using a dynamic
vs. static version of the model.
