Region 8 Tribal Affairs Branch
EPA Region 8 is committed to helping Tribes strengthen their abilities to manage environmental programs in Indian country, and to ensure that Tribes have a voice in decisions that affect their land, air and water. The region serves 28 federally recognized Tribes, located within the states of Colorado, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, and Wyoming.
Funding Opportunity Notice
Each year the U.S. EPA Region 8 Tribal Affairs Branch (TAB) sends its notification to the Tribes to announce the Funding Opportunity available under the following authorities:
- The General Assistance Program (GAP), under the Indian Environmental General Assistance Program Act of 1992 as amended
- The Clean Water Act (CWA), Sections 106 and 319 grant programs
- The Clean Air Act (CAA), Sections 103 and 105 grant programs
The Funding Opportunity Notice (FON) informs the Tribes of the upcoming funding cycle dates for these Tribal grant programs and invites Tribes located in Region 8 to develop and email their proposal packages to their assigned EPA Tribal Program Managers (TPM).
This FON represents only a portion of EPA funding opportunities available for Tribes, and only some of the program grants that the TAB TPMs manage.

The Regional Tribal Operations Committee (RTOC) provides an opportunity for discussion between Tribes and EPA.
The Indian General Assistance Program (GAP) and other Tribal Funding Programs in Region 8
GAP is guided by the Guidance on the Award and Management of General Assistance Agreements for Tribes and Intertribal Consortia.
EPA provides several grant funding opportunities to Tribes that include, but are not limited to, GAP grants, Clean Water and Clean Air grants, Brownfields grant opportunities, and other program-specific funding.
Tribal Consultation Procedures for Region 8
