Summary

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency intends to issue an Underground Injection Control (UIC) permit related action, under the authority of the Safe Drinking Water Act and UIC Program regulations, that would authorize Wexpro Company to convert a production well to a Class II salt water disposal (SWD) well that would allow injection of produced water into the Green River Formation (Birds Nest Aquifer) within the exterior boundary of the Uintah and Ouray Reservation in Uintah County, Utah. The Island Unit 18 was an oil and gas production well completed into the Wasatch Formation and plugged back and perforated into the Birds Nest Aquifer in the Natural Buttes Field.
