Public Notice: Draft Decision to Revoke and Reissue Argenta Ute #2 SWD UIC Class II Produced Fluid Disposal Permit – Hillcorp Energy Company, Ignacio Blanco Field, Southern Ute Indian Reservation, Colorado
Summary
Under the authority of the Safe Drinking Water Act and UIC Program regulations, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is proposing to revoke and reissue an existing Underground Injection Control (UIC) Permit, that would authorize Hilcorp Energy Company to continue to operate a Class II disposal well to inject produced water from oil and gas operations in the Ignacio Blanco Field in La Plata County, Colorado. The proposed Class II Permit updates the maximum allowable injection pressure, correctly identifies all USDWs; updates omissions from prior permit actions; clarifies the mechanical integrity testing methods in the Permit requirements; clarifies ownership information under Hilcorp Energy Company; and reclassifies the Permit to a non-commercial injection well. The proposed injection zone is located 5,050 –5,964 feet deep in the Mesaverde, which is confined on the top by the Lewis Shale and on the bottom by the Mancos Shale. The proposed injection zone is located below the lowermost underground source of drinking water (USDW).
