Access the Water Contaminant Information Tool

The Water Contaminant Information Tool (WCIT) is a database with information on over 800 drinking water and wastewater contaminants, including pathogens, pesticides, and toxic industrial chemicals.

Users have to register with EPA before obtaining access to WCIT.  Since WCIT is a secure tool, access is limited to:
  • Drinking water and wastewater utilities.
  • Government public health and environmental laboratories.
  • Commercial laboratories that serve utilities.
  • State and local emergency response agencies (e.g., Local Emergency Planning Committees (LEPCs) and State Emergency Response Commissions (SERCs)).
  • EPA and other federal agencies.
  • State primacy agencies.
  • Public health agencies.
  • Water associations.

For an overview of WCIT and current information, read our WCIT documents.
