Research Laboratories

EPA's research labroatories conduct research, develop and validate methods, and use state-of-the-art technology, providing the scientific foundation that supports the agency's mission to protect human health and the environment.

These labs directly support regulatory implementation, compliance, and enforcement at a national level. For example, the National Vehicle and Fuel Emissions Laboratory performs motor vehicle standards testing.
