Public Transportation

Use MBTA Subway service to State Street (Orange Line). Follow Congress Street south (away from City Hall & Faneuil Hall/Quincy Market) approximately 2 blocks. EPA's building at 5 Post Office Square will be on your right.

From Downtown Boston

Take I-93 north 22 miles to I-495; take I-495 south 8 miles to Route 3; take Route 3 north about 2 miles; take exit 32; go straight through first light and bear right at second light onto Route 4; turn right at the first light onto Technology Drive; about 1/4 mile on the right is the lab, a brick building with an EPA sign.

To 11 Technology Drive From Route 128

Take exit 32 off Route 128 onto Route 3 north; take Route 3 north about 15 miles; take exit 32; go straight through first light and bear right at second light onto Route 4; turn right at the first light onto Technology Drive; about 1/4 mile on the right is the lab, a brick building with an EPA sign.

To 11 Technology Drive From Interstate 495

Take exit 35 off I-495 onto Route 3 north; take Route 3 north about 2 miles; take exit 32; go straight through first light and bear right at second light onto Route 4; turn right at the first light onto Technology Drive; about 1/4 mile on the right is the lab, a brick building with an EPA sign.

To 11 Technology Drive from the North

Take Route 3 south to exit 32; go straight through first light; bear left at second and third lights; bear right at the fourth light onto Route 4; turn right at the first light onto Technology Drive; about 1/4 mile on the right is the lab, a brick building with an EPA sign.

The closest airports to the lab are:

Manchester, NH Airport (30 minutes north, near Rt. 3 & I-293)
Hanscom Field, Lexington, MA (20 minutes south near Rt. 3 & Rt.128)
Boston Logan Airport (45 minutes if no traffic hangups)

COMMUTER TRAINS

The closest local commuter train station is the Lowell Station on the Lowell Line, about 3 miles from the lab.  From Lowell, the Lab is served by the Lowell Regional Transit Authority's (LRTA) bus Route 5.

From I-95 North (from New York)

Take Exit 7, Greenwich Avenue/Rt 137. At the bottom of the ramp, go straight through the intersection to the next traffic light. Take a left at the light onto Washington Boulevard (Rt. 137). Stay on Washington Boulevard for three blocks. The Stamford Government Center is at the intersection of Tresser Boulevard and Washington. Take a left onto Tresser Boulevard; the parking garage is in the rear of the Government Center. Take a right into the garage, and park on the first floor.

From I-95 South (from New Haven)

Take Exit 7, Atlantic Street/Rt. 137. At the bottom of the ramp, merge toward the right. Go straight 3 traffic lights to Washington Boulevard (Rt. 137). Take a right onto Washington Boulevard to the intersection of Tresser Boulevard; take a left onto Tresser; the parking garage is in the rear of the Government Center. Take a right into the garage, and park on the first floor.

From the Hutchinson/Merritt Parkway North (from New York)

Take Exit 36, Long Ridge Road. At the bottom of the ramp, take a right onto Long Ridge Road. Go approximately 3 miles to the intersection of Long Ridge and Washington Boulevard (Rt. 137). Bear right at the intersection, and go straight on Washington Boulevard about 3 miles to the intersection with Tresser Boulevard. Take a right onto Tresser, and an immediate right into the parking garage at the rear of the Government Center. Park on the first floor.

From the Merritt/Wilbur Cross Parkway South (from New Haven)

Take Exit 35, High Ridge Road. At the bottom of the ramp, take a right onto High Ridge Road. Go straight on High Ridge approximately 3 miles to the intersection with Washington Boulevard (Rt. 137). Take a right onto Washington Boulevard and go about 3 miles to the intersection with Tresser Boulevard. Take a right onto Tresser, and an immediate right into the parking garage at the rear of the Government Center. Park on the first floor or as otherwise directed.

From Metro-north Rail Road (New Haven/Amtrack Line)

From NY or NH : Take Metro-North/Amtrack to the Stamford terminal. The LISO is approximately 2 blocks north of the station, on the left, at the corner of Tresser and Washington Blvds. From the Northbound (to New Haven) side: Exit the train and proceed to the tunnel entrance under the escalator and walk through the tunnel to the southbound side, exit through the glass doors. **Cross the street, and continue on the diagonal sidewalk in front of the UBS building), which intersects with the sidewalk on northbound Washington Blvd. Southbound (to New York) side: Either take the escalators to the street level (all the way down); or exit the platform at the street level and follow directions **above.
