Public Notice: Contaminated ANCSA Lands Programmatic Environmental Assessment
Summary
EPA seeks to alleviate the burden of compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act and the National Historic Preservation Act on our grant recipients for Contaminated Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA) Lands Assistance Program cooperative agreement funded projects. This will entail the development of an Environmental Assessment for NEPA and a Finding of No Significant Impact for NHPA Section 106 to cover all sites on EPA’s Contaminated ANCSA Sites Inventory.
EPA seeks comments that identify issues, data, and reasonable alternatives or mitigation measures. We are very interested in comments about how the Contaminated ANCSA Lands Assistance Program may impact certain natural resources in Alaska, such as:
- Archaeological preservation and historic properties, including sacred sites and traditional cultural places.
- Protected subsistence resources and uses.
- Wetlands and associated aquatic resources.
