EPA Announces Selection of Members to the TSCA Science Advisory Committee on Chemicals
Released on July 1, 2026
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is announcing the selection of new members to the Science Advisory Committee on Chemicals (SACC) established under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA). As required by TSCA, these well-qualified experts represent a broad range of scientific disciplines and experience including government, labor, public health, public interest, animal protection, and industry. These experts also have specific scientific expertise in the relationship of chemical exposures to women, children, and other potentially exposed or susceptible subpopulations, further advancing EPA’s mission to protect all Americans from dangerous chemicals.
The SACC provides independent scientific advice and recommendations on the scientific and technical foundations of EPA’s TSCA risk assessments, methodologies, and pollution prevention approaches. The newly composed committee reflects a broad spectrum of expertise spanning toxicology, environmental risk assessment, exposure science, computational modeling, epidemiology, biotechnology, environmental engineering, and related disciplines. These members also bring diverse professional backgrounds—from state and federal government and public health to academia, industry, and other sectors—ensuring a well-rounded, balanced scientific review. Of note, several of the members worked at EPA earlier in their careers and all proposed appointees have advanced degrees, most have additional certifications in their fields, and all have significant experience that will bring notable value to the peer review process. Consistent with processes for renewal of Federal Advisory Committees at the agency, the Trump EPA sought nominations from the public in January 2026 and requested public comments on nominations in April 2026.
The new SACC includes a total of 23 experts consisting of eleven new and twelve existing members.
