Superfund Dioxins, Furans, and Chlorinated Biphenyl Congeners Analytical Services (DFC02.0)

The CLP’s Superfund Dioxins, Furans, and Chlorinated Biphenyl Congeners (DFC) analytical services are specified in the CLP DFC02.0 Statement of Work (SOW). The SOW establishes the contractual framework for laboratories to isolate, identify, and quantify the seventeen 2,3,7,8‑substituted tetra through octa chlorinated dibenzo‑p‑dioxins (CDDs) and chlorinated dibenzofurans (CDFs) and/or the 209 chlorinated biphenyl congeners (CBCs) in aqueous/water, soil/sediment, sludge, non‑human tissue, biosolids, ash, oil, and oily matrices. It streamlines operations, offers flexible reporting options, and aligns with best laboratory practices. Key features include:

  • Analytical Methods:
    • CDDs/CDFs: High‑Resolution Gas Chromatography/High‑Resolution Mass Spectrometry (HRGC/HRMS) Method 1613 or GC‑MS/MS Method 16130.
    • CBCs: HRGC/HRMS Method 1668 or GC/MS Selected Ion Monitoring (SIM) Method 1628.
  • Retained reporting of Total Homologues and Toxic Equivalents (TEQs) for CDDs/CDFs and CBCs.
  • Simplified and flexible Complete Sample Delivery Group (SDG) File (CSF) data package.
  • Electronic Data Deliverable (EDD) reporting options: SEDD Stage 2a or XFile (Text).
  • MDL studies aligned with 40 CFR Part 136, Appendix B (Revision 2).
