Public Hearing on Louisiana's Coal Combustion Residuals Permit Program
On June 4, 2026, EPA announced a proposal to approve the application submitted by the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality to allow the Louisiana coal combustion residuals permit program to operate in lieu of the federal coal combustion residuals program. In addition to accepting written comments, EPA will hold a hybrid in-person and online public hearing. The public hearing will provide interested persons the opportunity to present information, comments, or views concerning EPA's proposal.

General Information
EPA will hold a hybrid in-person and online public hearing about this proposal on July 21, 2026 in the Galvez Building at Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality Headquarters Office, 602 North 5th Street, Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70802. The hearing will convene at 9:00 a.m. Central Time and conclude at 6:00 p.m.
Oral testimony will be limited to five minutes for each person. EPA may ask clarifying questions during the oral presentations but will not respond formally during the hearing to any comments or information presented at the hearing. A verbatim transcript of the hearing will be included in the docket for this action. Speakers may provide oral testimony in person or online.
EPA will accept written public comments through Regulations.gov until the close of the comment period on this action.
Note: Do not present or submit at the hearing any information you consider to be confidential business information or other information whose disclosure is restricted by statute.
