Withdrawal of the Approval of Broadly Applicable Alternate Test Methods ALT-125 and ALT-127
Statement
On December 21st, 2021, the EPA announced a decision to withdraw Alternate Test Method ALT-125 and Alternate Test Method ALT-127. This decision was the result of a review initiated at the request of the State of Alaska and several other State environmental programs. The states provided seven test reports in support of their request that the EPA reviewed in detail prior to issuing our decision. These test reports are available in a public docket here: (https://www.regulations.gov/docket/EPA-HQ-OAR-2021-0951).
On January 24th, 2022, EPA published a Notice in the Federal Register (https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2022/01/24/2022-01298/withdrawal-of-broadly-applicable-alternative-test-methods) that formalized the withdrawal and lays out information with respect to timing for cessation of testing and submission of test reports to the Agency, as well as information relating to existing appliance certifications and renewal of those certifications.
