Global Methane Initiative: Leading methane action since 2004

The Global Methane Initiative (GMI) is an international public-private partnership focused on reducing barriers to the recovery and use of methane as a valuable energy source. GMI's 48 Partner Countries offer special expertise and interest in developing solutions for mitigating methane emissions and using methane productively. The United States provides key leadership, funding and technical expertise for international methane emission reduction efforts, resulting in more than 1,250 methane mitigation projects through GMI as of 2023.
