Join the Landfill Methane Outreach Program

Benefits of Joining

When you become an LMOP Partner, you will join a vast network of industry experts and stakeholders, and gain access to various tools and resources that can help you identify, develop and promote the benefits of your landfill gas (LFG) energy project.

Whether you are a landfill owner, project developer, municipal representative or corporation interested in using LFG, LMOP can provide resources to help you meet your needs. All LMOP Partners have access to the following services:

  • Network of 1,000+ Partners
  • Topical listserv messages
  • Answers to technical questions
  • Technical and outreach publications, tools and resources
  • Project and candidate landfill data
  • Support for ribbon-cutting materials
  • Use of the LMOP logo (in accordance with logo use guidelines)
International Partners

Organizations that focus on international activities should consider joining the Global Methane Initiative instead. LMOP works with the Initiative to promote LFG energy project development globally.

Becoming a Partner is free and demonstrates your organization's commitment to and understanding of the environmental and economic benefits of LFG energy. Responsibilities of Partners and EPA are included in the Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) and Agreement listed below.

How to Join

Organizations who join LMOP align with one of five Partner types: Industry, Energy, Community, State or Endorser. Select the appropriate file for your organization from the list of LMOP Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) below. Download the appropriate PDF file to your local drive, complete the form fields using Adobe Reader (or another PDF software) and select the "Save as" menu option to create a new copy of the file with your organization name in the filename. For the Signature field, just type in the authorized representative's name.

Email your new PDF file to lmop@epa.gov, along with a high-resolution version of your organization's logo or seal. You should receive your welcome email approximately four weeks after you submit your MOU or Agreement. If you have any questions about the process, please contact us.

LMOP has an approved Information Collection Request (ICR) under which it requests information from its Partners. The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Control Number for LMOP's approved ICR is 2060-0446 and the EPA ICR Number is 1849.09. LMOP's current ICR approval expires on 5/31/2025.
