EPA Administrator Zeldin Joins President Trump in Pittsburgh for Pennsylvania Energy and Innovation Summit
PITTSBURGH — Yesterday, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lee Zeldin traveled to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to participate in U.S. Senator Dave McCormick's (R-PA) Pennsylvania Energy and Innovation Summit held at Carnegie Mellon University. At the summit, industry leaders announced over $90 billion in investments in the Keystone State, creating jobs and helping to unleash American energy. Administrator Zeldin participated in a roundtable with President Donald Trump, Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent, Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick, Secretary of Energy Chris Wright, Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum, other Trump Administration officials, and industry CEOs.

“I want to thank Senator McCormick for bringing leaders in government and business together so we can chart a new path to make America the Artificial Intelligence (AI) capital of the world,” said EPA Administrator Zeldin. “EPA is eager to work with AI leaders as we streamline permitting and regulations that will help accelerate American data center development. The Trump Administration is positioning America to be at the forefront of the AI revolution while unleashing American energy dominance.”
“As the nation’s second largest energy producer and a global nuclear power leader, Pennsylvania is uniquely positioned to deliver the abundant, affordable energy that growing AI and advanced manufacturing sectors demand. We have the skilled workforce to build and operate this critical infrastructure, world-class universities driving innovation, and strategic proximity to over half the country’s population,” said Senator McCormick. “Through these newly announced investments and the continued efforts of President Trump and Administrator Zeldin to enact commonsense permitting reform and remove burdensome regulations, we will drive a golden age of American energy dominance that creates jobs and opportunities for working families across Pennsylvania.”
The Trump EPA is helping to ensure the Clean Air Act works for, not against, vital industries and the communities they invest in. Part of making the United States the AI Capital of the world is ensuring that data center and related facilities are powered and operated in a clean manner with American-made energy. EPA is increasing certainty for owner-operators in the permitting process, making it clearer what kind of permit is needed for new and modified projects. Administrator Zeldin is laser focused on advancing American Energy Dominance and making America the AI Capital of the world as outlined in his Powering the Great American Comeback initiative.
