WASHINGTON – Yesterday, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lee Zeldin, in consultation with U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and in accordance with the Clean Air Act (CAA), issued a temporary emergency fuel waiver to allow nationwide sales of E15, gasoline blended with 15 percent ethanol, and to remove all federal impediments to selling E10, gasoline blended with 10 percent ethanol, across the country. Through the waiver, EPA is fortifying the domestic gasoline supply chain and providing Americans relief at the pumps ahead of the summer driving season. Beginning on May 1, 2026, EPA’s waivers will work to prevent disruption in America’s fuel supply by keeping E15 on the market and giving Americans more fuel options. EPA is issuing the waiver notice to allow fuel industry stakeholders adequate time to transition the fuel distribution system. As required by the CAA, EPA and DOE evaluated the current situation and determined that granting the waiver was in the public interest.

Here’s what people are saying:

U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke L. Rollins: “President Trump is unleashing American Energy Dominance, and today’s action will directly lower prices at the pump and gives a clear demand signal to our domestic biofuels producers. Allowing the summer sale of E-15 will provide drivers more options at the pump and deliver a bigger domestic market for American farmers. While today’s announcement is great news for farmers, year-round E-15 is essential for the farm economy, and Congress needs to find a commonsense solution that provides much needed certainty to consumers and farmers. Once again, Administrator Zeldin and President Trump’s cabinet is delivering for our great American farmers. Our energy security is truly a national security priority, and our nations corn farmers are a key part of the solution.”

Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds: “Grateful for EPA Administrator Zeldin’s announcement today that EPA will issue emergency fuel waivers to allow for sales of E15 nationwide this summer. It’s a win-win, E15 offers consumers lower fuel prices and supports market demand for farmers.”

Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen: “The E15 summer waiver announcement from EPA Administrator Zeldin is great news for Nebraska and our corn farmers. This decision will save families money at the pump and reduce America’s need for foreign oil. A pro-agriculture move that is great for farmers and our country.”

Iowa Secretary of Agriculture & Land Stewardship Mike Naig: “I appreciate the Trump Administration allowing the nationwide sale of E15 this summer. This is a win for farmers, drivers, and homegrown American energy. I also what to thank Iowa’s congressional delegation for continuing to push for year-round E-15. But to be clear, our farmers and consumers shouldn’t have to rely on short term emergency waivers every year. Congress has had multiple chances to provide farmers, biofuel producers and fuel retailers with the long-term certainty they need by fixing this issue permanently, and they have failed to get it done. It’s long overdue for Congress to finally pass a permanent nationwide fix for year-round E15, which will save Americans money at the pump, support a critical market for farmers, and boost American energy independence.”

Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD): “As a steadfast advocate for the year-round sale of E15 fuel, I appreciate the Trump administration’s decision today to allow the summertime sale of E15 across our nation. A permanent legislative solution to permit year-round E15 must remain a top priority.”

Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA): “Iowans are grateful that E15 will be available nationwide this summer. This win will expand markets for our farmers, reduce dependence on foreign oil, and provide real savings at the pump!”

Senator Deb Fischer (R-NE): “I thank EPA Administrator Zeldin and the Trump administration for issuing another emergency waiver for E15 to be sold year-round across the country. This will undoubtedly bring some short-term relief to our farmers and ranchers, and ease fuels costs on Americans.”

Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA): “President Trump and EPA Administrator Zeldin did the right thing to allow E15 nationwide for summer driving season.”

Senator Jerry Moran (R-KS): “EPA is granting a waiver for the sale of E15 during the summer driving season. Extending the sale of E15 will open markets for Kansas farmers & ethanol producers, support American energy independence, and provide consumers with more affordable options at the pump. I have long supported allowing the year-round, nationwide sale of E15, & I applaud the administration’s action to help meet our nation’s energy needs & lower fuel costs for the America people.”

Representative Randy Feenstra (R-IA-04): “I am pleased the EPA has approved a Nationwide Summertime Emergency Fuel Waiver, allowing the sale of E15 across the country. With ongoing supply chain disruptions, it is critical that we support our farmers and recognize the vital role biofuels play in American energy independence.”

Representative Buddy Carter (R-GA-01): “I applaud EPA Administrator Zeldin and the Trump Administration for approving the sale of E15 fuel to lower prices at the pump for Americans!”

Representative Julie Fedorchak (R-ND-AL): “EPA's decision to remove barriers for ethanol in fuel is welcome news for North Dakota’s producers. Expanding access to homegrown ethanol will send strong market signals the industry needs for growth, strengthen our domestic energy supply, and expand market access for biofuels producers,” Fedorchak said. “I look forward to working with the Trump administration to build on this momentum and deliver a permanent, year-round solution for E15. It’s how we create long-term certainty for refineries, producers, and oil producers alike.”

Representative Adrian Smith (R-NE-03): “I am grateful EPA Administrator Zeldin has issued a summertime emergency fuel waiver to allow E15 to be sold year-round. Amidst supply chain uncertainty, it’s never been clearer that biofuels are a key pillar of American energy independence.”

Representative Ashley Hinson (R-IA-02): “Thank you to President Trump and EPA Administrator Zeldin for approving a waiver for summertime E15. This action supports our Iowa farmers and continues to provide access to lower cost fuel options for consumers.”

Representative Mike Flood (R-NE-01): “President Trump's move to allow temporary nationwide E15 again proves how year-round E15 delivers for American consumers. E15 is a commonsense solution that lowers gas prices, expands domestic markets for our farmers, all while securing real energy independence. Congress must continue this momentum and make nationwide E15 permanent for our hardworking families and farmers. Thank you to EPA Administrator Zeldin for your leadership on this issue!”

Representative Zach Nunn (R-IA-03): “This is exactly the kind of action I’ve been pushing for — nationwide E15 to give Iowa farmers a real demand signal and help families save at the pump. Good to see EPA Administrator Zeldin deliver ahead of planting season. But temporary isn’t enough. I’m going to keep fighting until we lock in year-round, nationwide E15 for good.”

Representative Mark Alford (R-MO-04): “Relief at the pump is coming! EPA Administrator Zeldin has issued an emergency fuel waiver allowing E15 nationwide this summer and removing federal barriers to E10. More fuel, more options, lower costs for families! This commonsense move strengthens American energy independence, supports our farmers, and keeps gas affordable. Thanks to President Trump for delivering results for Missouri & all Americans!”

American Coalition for Ethanol (ACE) CEO Brian Jenning: “We welcome the Trump administration’s action which will help consumers access a significantly less expensive fuel, shielding drivers from Middle East fuel price volatility.”

American Farm Bureau Federation President Zippy Duvall: “Farm Bureau thanks Administrator Lee Zeldin and EPA for granting a waiver to allow E15 to be sold during the summer, but the time is now for Congress to make the availability of E15 permanent. Biofuels play an important role in meeting America’s energy needs and are a win-win for farmers and drivers. E15 gasoline saves consumers 10 to 30 cents per gallon at the pump and creates markets for American-grown crops.”

Growth Energy CEO Emily Skor: “We applaud President Trump, EPA Administrator Zeldin, and our Midwestern governors for their support, and for taking swift action to ensure that retailers, refiners, and biofuel producers have the certainty they need to protect consumer access to savings at the pump. With the conflict in the Middle East and its impact on the global oil marketplace, it’s more important than ever to shield U.S. consumers from volatility with lower-cost, American-made fuel.”

Iowa Farm Bureau President Brent Johnson: “By lifting restrictions, consumers have access to this lower-cost option at the gas pump, and the resulting demand for homegrown fuels will support Iowa’s farm families and rural communities while boosting American energy independence... E15 saves consumers 10 to 30 cents per gallon at the pump and promotes domestic energy production with a cleaner burning fuel.”

Missouri Corn Growers Association President Brian Lehman: “We appreciate President Trump and EPA Administrator Zeldin for taking action to expand access to E15 during the summer months. With global uncertainty putting pressure on fuel supplies and prices, this is a commonsense move to keep a reliable, lower-cost option available at the pump. As corn farmers, we take pride in knowing something we grow right here in Missouri is making a difference for families across the country. Ethanol is a homegrown energy solution that supports rural communities, strengthens our energy independence, and delivers real value for consumers. It just makes sense to fully utilize a resource we’re already producing.”

National Corn Growers Association President Jed Bower: “We are deeply appreciative of President Trump and Administrator Zeldin for expanding consumer access to E15 through the summer months. This development will not only help America’s corn growers who are doing their best to navigate tough economic times, but also it will save drivers money at the pump. In fact, drivers save a quarter a gallon on average with E15.”

Renewable Fuels Association President and CEO Geoff Cooper: “During a time of highly volatile fuel prices and instability in global crude oil markets, President Trump and Administrator Zeldin understand that year-round E15 is a solution that can extend domestic fuel supplies and reduce pump prices for hardworking American families. With geopolitical conflict roiling energy markets worldwide, we applaud President Trump and Administrator Zeldin for acting quickly and decisively to combat potential fuel shortages and help keep a lid on gas prices this summer. Today’s action will allow maximum flexibility and fuel fungibility in the marketplace, which is exactly what the supply chain needs right now.”
