About the Chief of Staff for EPA's Region 2 Office in New York

We’re very pleased to announce that Vanessa Martins joined as our new Chief of Staff on June 23, 2025. Vanessa comes to EPA from UBS, multinational investment bank and financial services firm, where she worked as an Environmental Analyst. At UBS, Vanessa focused on environmental compliance and analyzed emissions data to assess sustainability risks and integrate environmental and social factors into corporate sustainability reporting. Earlier in her career, Vanessa also worked for the Nassau County Executive Office working on environmental issues and as an Environmental Policy Intern with the New York State Senate. In both roles, she drew upon her strong background in data analytics and environmental compliance topics.

Vanessa has a Bachelor of Science in Environment and Sustainability from Cornell University with concentrations in Environmental Policy and Governance and Environmental Economics. She also has a Master of Science in Sustainability Management from Columbia University with a focus in Sustainable Finance. She grew up on Long Island, lives in NYC, and is a lifelong New Yorker.
