EPA Requests Comments on Prospective Candidates for the FIFRA Scientific Advisory Panel on EPA’s Proposed Guidelines for Efficacy Testing of Certain Flea and Tick Products for Pets

For Release: May 3, 2019

EPA is seeking comments on the experts who are candidates to serve as ad hoc panelists for the review of the EPA’s Proposed Guidelines for Efficacy Testing of Topically Applied Pesticides Used Against Certain Ectoparasitic Pests on Pets. The candidate list, including brief biographies, can be found on the FIFRA Scientific Advisory Panel (SAP) website. Comments on the candidates are due May 18, 2019 to the Designated Federal Official (DFO) listed below.

The FIFRA SAP will hold a public in-person meeting on June 11-14, 2019 to review the EPA’s proposed guidelines referenced above. Additionally, a preparatory virtual meeting for FIFRA SAP members and the public to comment on and ask questions regarding the scope and clarity of the draft charge questions to be used for the peer review will be held prior to the in-person meeting. EPA will be providing more information on these meetings.

The FIFRA SAP serves as a primary scientific peer review mechanism of EPA’s Office of Chemical Safety and Pollution Prevention and is structured to provide scientific advice, information, and recommendations to the EPA Administrator on pesticides and pesticide-related issues as to the impact of regulatory actions on health and the environment.

Additional information about this FIFRA SAP advisory activity can be accessed in docket #EPA-HQ-OPP-2019-0161 on www.regulations.gov, on the FIFRA SAP website, or by contacting the DFO, Dr. Sue Shallal (shallal.suhair@epa.gov or 202-564-2057).
