Summary

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is conducting a five-year review of the Forest Waste Products Superfund site located at 8359 East Farrand Road in Otisville, Michigan. The Superfund law requires regular checkups of sites that have been cleaned up—with waste managed onsite—to make sure that the cleanup continues to protect people and the environment. This is the seventh five-year review of this site.

Cleanup actions conducted for the site included the installation of fencing, landfill capping, as well as the removal, treatment, and off-site disposal of contaminated drums, soil, and sludges. Groundwater continues to be monitored.

More information is available at the Forest Township Office, 130 E. Main St., Otisville, or online. The review is expected to be completed in February 2027.

The five-year review is an opportunity for you to tell EPA and Michigan Department of Environmental Quality about site conditions and any concerns you have.
