Public Notice: EPA Conducting Review of North Sanitary Landfill Superfund Site
Summary
EPA is conducting a five-year review of the North Sanitary Landfill Superfund site, also known as Valleycrest Landfill, at 200 Valleycrest Drive, Dayton Ohio. The Superfund law requires regular checkups of sites that have been cleaned up or where cleanup has been ongoing for at least five years – with waste managed on-site – to make sure the cleanup continues to protect people and the environment. This is the first five-year review of this site.
EPA’s cleanup at the site included placing a multi-layer cap over 70 acres, installing a leachate extraction system to contain contaminated groundwater, and setting a landfill gas collection system.
More information is available on the North Sanitary Landfill site webpage. The review is expected to be completed in March of 2027.
The five-year review is an opportunity for you to tell EPA about site conditions and any concerns you have.
