Public Notice: EPA Conducting Review of Sanitary Landfill Co. Superfund Site
Summary
EPA is conducting a five-year review of the Sanitary Landfill Co. Superfund site, also known as Cardington Road Landfill, 1855 Cardington Road, Moraine, Ohio. The Superfund law requires regular checkups of sites that have been cleaned up or where cleanup has been ongoing for at least five years – with waste managed on-site – to make sure the cleanup continues to protect people and the environment. This is the sixth five-year review of this site.
EPA’s cleanup at the site included placing a solid waste cap on the landfill, constructing a gas management system, installing surface runoff controls and drainage channels, long-term monitoring, and limiting the access and activities at the site.
More information is available on the Sanitary Landfill Co. Superfund site webpage. The review is expected to be completed in January of 2027.
The five-year review is an opportunity for you to tell EPA about site conditions and any concerns you have.
