Summary

EPA is conducting a five-year review of the MacGillis & Gibbs Co./Bell Lumber & Pole Co. Superfund Site in New Brighton, Minnesota. The Superfund law requires regular checkups of sites that have been cleaned up, with waste managed on-site, to make sure the cleanup continues to protect people and the environment. This is the sixth five-year review of this site.

EPA’s cleanup of the former wood treatment facility remedy included cleanup and removal of abandoned process tanks and associated sludges and residues. Additional cleanup activities include construction of an on-site bioremediation treatment plant, disposal of contaminated soils in an off-site landfill, and ongoing operation and maintenance activities.

The five-year review is an opportunity for you to tell the EPA about site conditions and any concerns you have. More information is available at EPA webpage.
