Summary

The proposed plan for the WSPC Green Bay MGP Site addresses OU 2’s sediment, clay, and surface water in the East River and Lower Fox River. Sediment contaminated with petroleum volatile organic compounds (PVOCs), polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), and various inorganic compounds were removed from portions of the rivers. A sand cover and cap were installed over remaining contaminated sediment and clay. The cap is designed to help prevent contamination from entering the river.

  • EPA’s proposed plan would continue to prevent exposure to site contamination by monitoring the effectiveness of the cap and maintaining the cap over the long term.
  • The proposed plan includes institutional controls that limit access to use of the site to help reduce the potential for human exposure to contamination and protect the integrity of the remedy.
