Public Notice: Tomah Fairgrounds Site Five-Year Review
Summary
The Tomah Fairgrounds Superfund site is approximately 37.5 acres, with a closed landfill occupying 15 acres within the Fairgrounds. The land was used and operated by the City of Tomah as a waste disposal site from 1955 to 1960. After several investigations, EPA issued a Record of Decision for the Site in 1996, that selected a “No Further Action” remedy based on legal assurances that the contaminated land will not be used in a way that could pose significant risks.
