Ecological Risk Assessment at Urban and Industrial Sites: Discussion Document & Ecological Risk Assessment in Urban or Developed Waterways: Discussion Document   

In July 2025, EPA released two ecological risk assessment discussion documents developed in 2022 by the USEPA Ecological Risk Assessment Forum, these companion reports provide information that can be helpful to consider when performing ecological risk assessments involving urban, industrial sites, or in developed waterways.

All Ages Lead Model - AALM

In April 2024, EPA announced the release of the final report, All Ages Lead Model, which rapidly estimates the effect of exposures on lead concentrations in tissues of children and adults; can assess exposures of a day or more, as well as chronic exposures; and can be applied to specific individuals or to groups of similarly exposed individuals.

ORD Human Health Toxicity Value for Lithium bis [(trifluoromethyl)sulfonyl]azanide (HQ-115)

This toxicity assessment is a written summary of the potential health effects associated with exposure to HQ-115/TFSI (hazard identification) and identifies the exposure levels (dose-response assessment) at which those health effects may occur.

Publication: IRIS Toxicological Review of Perfluorohexanesulfonic Acid (PFHxS) and Related Salts (External Review Draft)

ERG, a contractor for EPA, announced the external peer review meetings associated with the draft IRIS Toxicological Review of Perfluorohexanesulfonic Acid (PFHxS) and Related Salts (External Review Draft). The peer review meeting organized by ERG will take place virtually via Zoom. Members of the public are invited to attend as observers. A limited amount of time is set aside for oral public comment near the beginning of the peer review meeting on the first day.

The IRIS Program announced a 15-day public comment period on the inorganic arsenic BMD model code and BMD modeling output files for the draft IRIS Toxicological Review of Inorganic Arsenic. [Federal Register Notice December 29, 2023]

Publication: Advances in Dose Addition for Chemical Mixtures: A White Paper (Final Report)

EPA announced the release of the final report, Advances in Dose Addition for Chemical Mixtures: A White Paper, which describes current EPA practices associated with dose additive methods for human health risk assessments of chemical mixtures. It discusses challenges associated with the use of toxicological information and individual chemical dose response information when applying dose additive methods and considers the potential for future applications of dose addition that take advantage of kinetic and dynamic data generated from new approach methodologies.

NASEM's Review of EPA's 2022 Draft Formaldehyde Assessment (Final Report)

The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) announced the release their final report, Review of EPA's 2022 Draft Formaldehyde Assessment, which provides recommendations for improving its draft IRIS assessment. [NASEM Press Release Notice: Aug 9, 2023]
