Rule Summary

The New Source Performance Standards (NSPS) for Steel Plants: Electric Arc Furnaces and Argon Oxygen Decarburization Vessels were proposed on October 21, 1974, promulgated on September 23, 1975, and most-recently amended on February 22, 2005. These regulations regulate emissions of particulate matter and apply to existing and new facilities that produce carbon, alloy, or specialty steels: electric arc furnaces (EAFs), argon oxygen decarburization (AOD) vessels, and dust handling systems. New facilities include those that commenced construction, modification or reconstruction after the date of proposal. This information is being collected to assure compliance with 40 CFR Part 60, Subparts AA and AAa.
