Use and Exposure Information Project (UEIP)
The Use and Exposure Information Project (UEIP) was a voluntary program, developed initially as a joint effort by the Chemical Manufacturers Association (CMA), the Synthetic Organic Chemical Manufacturers Association (SOCMA), and EPA’s Office of Pollution Prevention and Toxics (OPPT), to provide a method for chemical manufacturers to send use and exposure information to OPPT for the chemicals entering the Risk Management (RM-1) screening assessment.
The UEIP was developed to improve the quality of the exposure information in the RM process. In the absence of data, screening level estimation methods used by the Agency generally yield conservative (protective) estimates of exposure.
The form was developed by a collaborative effort between the above groups as well as the API (American Petroleum Institute) and CSMA (Chemical Specialty Manufacturers Association). This form is provided here to assist interested parties in gathering the information they will need for use in developing exposure assessments for existing chemicals, including those in the U.S. HPV Challenge program.
