Public Notice: Draft Class II Revoke and Reissue Draft Permit, Slawson Exploration Co., Inc. ND22184-08837 Big Bend 1-5 SWD, Mountrail County, North Dakota
Summary
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region 8 intends to issue an Underground Injection Control (UIC) permit-related action, under the authority of the Safe Drinking Water Act and UIC Program regulations, to revoke and reissue the existing ND22184-08837 Commercial Permit for Big Bend 1-5 SWD well operated by Slawson Exploration, Co., Inc. This Revoke and Reissue will allow Big Bend 1-5 SWD well to continue to accept produced water from oil and gas operations and inject into the exempted portion of the Inyan Kara formation at a depth of 4,845’ and 5,261 feet. Key updates to this proposal include updating permit requirements to current standards, removal of an annual pore pressure monitoring requirement, and a maximum allowable injection pressure (MAIP) of 989 psi (based on site specific parameters).
