Air Quality

Explore our interactive U.S. Air Quality Index map to see how air quality may vary across locations and dates. On the map, you can select a city and match it to specific event days to view forecasted air quality using trusted AirNow data. This tool makes it easy to plan ahead, compare conditions, and choose the best times and places for your activities. The map also helps you interpret conditions at a glance: 

  • Good – enjoy your day outdoors
  • Moderate – unusually sensitive groups∗ should consider making activities shorter and less intense
  • Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups – sensitive groups should consider taking more breaks and choose shorter and lower-intensity activities
  • Unhealthy – everyone should consider reducing prolonged or heavy outdoor exertion

Heat

Heat can build quickly during outdoor events, making it important to monitor heat risk and stay properly hydrated. Pay attention to temperature and heat index levels, take breaks in shaded or cool areas, and drink water regularly. Wear wide-brimmed hats, UV-blocking sunglasses, and long sleeves and pants reduce your sun exposure, and consider electrolyte-replenishing drinks if you’re active for long periods. Planning ahead can help you stay safe, comfortable, and focused on enjoying the event.
