CAMEO Training and Events
The Computer-Aided Management of Emergency Operations (CAMEO) Software Suite has user manuals built into each application. To learn to use the CAMEO software suite applications: download the applications that you will be using, in the navigation bar at the top of each application, select “Help" and then open the help topics. Tier2 Submit also has a tutorial to guide you through completing your electronic Tier II form. Areal Locations of Hazardous Atmospheres (ALOHA) examples are available on the ALOHA Software website.
The CAMEO team does not have resources to host or offer CAMEO training, at this time. However, EPA Region 1 offers CAMEO trainings throughout the year. Please check the New England CAMEO User Group listings below for any EPA Region 1 hosted trainings.

CAMEO for Planning
Understand the hazardous material threat in your jurisdiction. Experienced instructors will train participants how to use the Computer Aided Management of Emergency Operations Suite software to facilitate planning for hazardous material incidents. This training focuses on CAMEO Data Manager, CAMEO Chemicals, and MARPLOT.
This month-long class includes:
- Online classroom with 24/7 access to weekly lessons.
- Videos & activities.
- Weekly, scheduled live Q&A webinars .
- 1-hour Zoom call on the first day of class.
- Four 2 -hour webinars on the remaining four days.
Three sessions in 2024:
- Session 1: March 19 - April 16 (Tuesday webinars)
- Session 2: May 28 - June 25 (Tuesday webinars)
- Session 3: October 17 - November 14 (Thursday webinars)

Louisiana State University NCBRT offers Department of Homeland Security (DHS) certified courses covered under the NCBRT’s Homeland Security National Training Program Cooperative Agreement. CAMEO introductory and advanced courses are included in this program. As a DHS primary training provider, the NCBRT can offer this vital training at no direct cost to your agency.

Basic CAMEO
HazMatTV offers Basic CAMEO, a self-paced web-based introductory course with a hands-on approach to learn the basics of CAMEO Chemicals. The company plans to expand the CAMEO training offerings to include the other components of the CAMEO suite.

North Carolina Department of Public Safety
ALOHA Air Modeling, basics through in-depth course
ALOHA® is the atmospheric hazard modeling program for the CAMEO® software suite, which is widely used to plan for and respond to chemical emergencies. This course would provide the basis for proper up-to-date software utilization, while developing an in-depth understanding of air modeling practices. Each training session is open to the Regional Response Teams, local HAZMAT Teams, first response, and planning personnel.
All student materials, including the use of laptop computers will be provided during the sessions. Participants must attend both days. Please register here. (Note: Travel expenses should be covered by your Agency. North Carolina will not provide reimbursement for out-of-state applicants.)

Time: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., both days
Prerequisites: Minimum of HAZMAT Operations is preferred
