Portfolio and Investment Management

Federal requirements dictate how EPA manages our IT investments, including the approval of new IT investments and the regular tracking of our existing portfolio.

FITARA

The Federal Information Technology Acquisition and Reform Act is a law that requires the review of new IT investments including development contracts and application development projects. A federal project lead will be responsible for getting FITARA approval before any federal funds are spent on IT contracts or projects.

The FITARA Dashboard shows EPA's scorecard for FITARA compliance.

CPIC

The Capital Planning and Investment Control process helps track IT investments across the federal government and makes sure that mission needs are aligned with agency budget, procurement, and enterprise architecture policies. A federal lead will be responsible for making sure any investment is properly categorized and for reporting on how much is spent for those investments as required by their category.
