Disaster Debris Recovery Tool
EPA developed this interactive mapping tool of twelve types of recyclers and landfills to promote sustainable disaster debris management in disaster planning and emergency response. Disaster response, recovery, and planning experts can use the tool to advance the safe recovery, recycling, and disposal of disaster debris. This tool provides information and locations of over 20,000 facilities capable of managing different materials and wastes that may be found in disaster debris. The tool was created in EPA Region 5 in 2010 and has expanded to include data for all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and U.S. Virgin Islands.
The DDRT web map was updated in August 2025 with a new format that gives it a more modern and streamlined look and feel. The new version of the DDRT keeps the existing functionality of the tool but adds new features. These new features include:
- A user tour that walks users through how the tool works.
- EZ-DD Search, which is a streamlined solution for locating recovery facilities and landfills near you.
- Tribal lands shown in the map.
- Frequently asked questions (FAQs) under Info to assist users.
- Facility definitions that are conveniently located next to the categories of each of the recycling and reuse facilities (click the i icon).
