Roles and Responsibilities of the Region 7 EMS

An organization is required to clearly identify those individuals who are responsible for developing, managing, and implementing the different components of an Environmental Management System (EMS). A great deal of effort is managed by the organization's EMS Coordinator, who has overall responsibility for the system and direct reporting authority to the organization's senior management. Others with specific EMS responsibilities include the EMS Advisory Team who works with the EMS Coordinator to ensure the system is achieving the goals and ideals of the Region’s policy; the EMS Integration Team that helps to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the system; various teams charged with implementing the programs developed to achieve the organization's environmental goals; and an audit team that periodically checks the EMS against specific criteria to ensure it is operating as intended.

Region 7 has compiled a list of the roles and responsibilities for individuals and groups considered critical to the effective sustainment of our EMS. If you have questions about the Region 7 EMS, please use the Contact Us link or send a direct message to John Begley.
