Sites with Superfund Alternative Approach Agreements

The sites listed below have Superfund alternative approach (SAA) agreements negotiated after June 2002, when the Agency's initial guidance on these agreements was issued. Superfund settlement agreement is equivalent to an agreement negotiated at an NPL site.

Some sites may have multiple SAA agreements while other sites may share a single SAA agreement. For example, six of the Wisconsin Public Service sites share a single SAA agreement to perform a remedial investigation and feasibility study at each site). It is also possible for a site to have an SAA agreement and another non-SAA agreement in place at the same time.

Sites with SAA agreements are not precluded from listing on the National Priorities List (NPL), but the expectation is that listing such sites will not be necessary to achieve cleanup.
