Air Toxics Data Update

The Air Toxics Data Update is part of EPA’s Office of Air Quality Planning and Standards' commitment to share the latest air toxics data with the public. The Update combines our most recent analyses of air toxics emissions, concentrations, and risks.

Air Toxics Data Update modules include:

National Emissions Inventory (NEI) — Our thorough and detailed estimate of nationwide air toxics emissions

Multipollutant Emissions Modeling Platform — Our innovative approach to modeling air toxics that employs a hybrid approach using the AERMOD and CMAQ models

Air Toxics Screening Assessment (AirToxScreen) — Our latest national screening assessment of risks to the public from air toxics, including cancer risks and other long-term health effects from breathing air toxics

Air toxics are usually a local issue, affecting people in neighborhoods across the country. Identifying areas of concern impacted by air toxics emissions is critical to EPA's mission to protect human health and the environment. Sharing the latest air toxics emissions data and risks are part of this effort, helping us give communities more complete information about their air quality.

EPA is committed to providing the Air Toxics Data Update annually to better inform people about their potential risks from air toxics. Each annual data release will include the latest year for which EPA has a complete, quality assured emissions inventory from which to calculate risk. This will give people more timely information on air toxics and show trends in emissions and risks over time.
