RSEI Data and Modeling

Watch an introduction to the air and water modeling used in EPA's Risk-Screening Environmental Indicators (RSEI) model.

RSEI models TRI chemical releases to air and water from TRI reporting facilities, as well as chemical waste transfers from TRI reporting facilities to publicly owned treatment works (POTW) and off-site incineration facilities. RSEI does not model other TRI-reported waste management activities, such as land application or underground injection, or transfers other than those to POTWs and incineration.

With each new RSEI model version, RSEI updates all years of TRI reporting data, so users can compare RSEI results for different years using the same underlying modeling methodology.
