Superfund Redevelopment Opportunities
EPA encourages the use of Superfund sites at any point in the cleanup process when a property can be used safely. While EPA does not own the properties that make up Superfund sites, landowners, developers, prospective purchasers and communities want to understand EPA’s role at the properties. EPA strives to provide site-related information to help people make timely business decisions and support communities as they tackle barriers to reuse.

Superfund Redevelopment Mapper
The Superfund Redevelopment Mapper helps people explore opportunities to reuse land at or near Superfund sites. It provides users with site locations and options for adding data layers that highlight key features at the site and in the surrounding area.

Sites with Ready for Reuse and Redevelopment Opportunity Fact Sheets
These fact sheets describe when and how a site is (or will be) ready for reuse. They cover reuse activities at the site, the owner's planning and development process, geographic location, past cleanup activities and contacts for more information. The fact sheets are designed to be useful resources for site owners, future site users, prospective purchasers, lenders and developers. Sites are categorized by their reuse status. Many sites that are already in reuse can support more uses. Past uses at sites often pave the way for future uses, with infrastructure remaining in place.
Ready for Reuse Determinations
These technical EPA determinations state that a site is “ready for reuse” and will remain protective for that use, so long as any use limitations established by EPA continue to be met. An Ready for Reuse determination summarizes information that supports the determination that all or part of a property at a site can support specified types of uses while remaining protective of human health and the environment.
