Dioxin in Art Studio Ball Clay

In 1996, an investigation to determine the sources of elevated dioxin levels in two chicken samples uncovered dioxins in ball clay. Analysis of this national survey indicated that the contamination source was ball clay added to chicken meal as an anti-caking agent. In the mid-2000's, EPA conducted a study to evaluate the potential exposure scenario of the use of ball art clay in ceramic art studios.
