GAP Academy
GAP Academy is a series of trainings designed for GAP recipients, EPA staff, and other interested parties. It aims to educate participants about the Indian Environmental General Assistance Program (GAP) and its role in supporting tribal environmental program development and waste implementation goals. The trainings are regularly updated and may incorporate links to other relevant EPA training resources for easy access. If you have suggestions for future training topics or would like to provide feedback, please reach out to the EPA at GAPinfo@epa.gov.
GAP Academy trainings fall under one of two categories: Building Environmental Capacity and Implementing Waste Programs. Included on this page are related trainings developed by EPA Offices and Regions that may be useful to Tribes.
Building Environmental Capacity
GAP Academy: What is GAP?
This training is being developed and will be made available in the Fall of 2024. The training will focus on the GAP Statute, the GAP National Priorities, and how Tribes can use GAP to support other EPA programs.
GAP Academy: Maximizing GAP In a PPG
This training is being developed and will be available in the Winter of 2024/2025.
GAP Academy: Preparing for Program Assumption
This training is scheduled for release in the Winter of 2024/2025.
Implementing Waste Programs
GAP Academy: Demonstrating Results of Waste Management with GAP
This training was presented live at the Tribal Lands and Environmental Forum on August 17, 2024 in Eugene, OR. How to Report Solid Waste Data will provide instruction on what information should be included in a GAP solid waste management progress report, what kids of data a project manager needs to collect, how to collect this data, and how to report it to EPA.
