Response to Petitions for Reconsideration or Revision of EPA’s 2024 Revisions and Confidentiality Determinations for Petroleum and Natural Gas System
Responses to Petitioners
On December 20, 2024, EPA notified petitioners that it intends to issue a Federal Register notice initiating a rulemaking process, including public notice and comment, on three narrow technical issues. Through a rulemaking process, EPA intends to propose and take public comment on minor changes to the final rule for these specified issues.

On December 26, 2024, EPA issued additional letters in which EPA partially denied Petitioners’ requests for reconsideration or revision as to four issues. At this time, the EPA is not taking action on the remainder of the petitions. EPA attached to each letter a single, combined explanation of the basis for its partial denial of these four issues.
