Inquire about Visiting EPA through the International Visitors Program

EPA's International Visitors Program considers requests for visits to EPA headquarters in Washington, D.C, and at our offices and laboratories throughout the nation.

EPA’s International Regional Coordinators are located throughout EPA’s 10 Regional Offices. They work closely with the Office of International and Tribal Affairs in Washington, D.C. in organizing meetings with international visitors.

How to Inquire about a Visit to EPA Headquarters through the International Visitors Program:

At least four weeks prior to the date of the visit, send a written request by or email to the International Visitors Program. This request must include the following information:

  • The proposed date and time of the visit;
  • The name, title, and organizational affiliation of each visitor;
  • A brief biography of each visitor;
  • Every potential visitor’s email address.
  • A list of specific topics which the visitor(s) or delegation would like to discuss with EPA staff;
  • A list of other organizations or agencies being visited while in the United States;
  • Contact information (mailing address, phone number, fax number, and email address) for the visitor or the head of a delegation of multiple visitors.

Please Note:

  1. The International Visitors Program receives foreign visitors only. Information about temporary or permanent employment, internships, and fellowships is available through the EPA Careers Website.
  2. EPA reserves the right to decline any visitor request.
  3. All visitors to EPA must show a government-issued photo identification in order to enter the building. We recommend that international visitors bring their passports with them when visiting EPA offices.
  4. All visitors whose names are not provided to the EPA prior to the meeting will not be permitted to attend the meeting.
  5. If the name of the visitor provided to the EPA does not match the name on the visitor’s passport the visitor will not be permitted to attend the meeting.
  6. If the visitors’ bios and emails are not provided to the EPA meeting sponsor or International Visitors Coordinator at least 2 weeks in advance, the meeting will likely be cancelled or postponed.
  7. All electronics (phones, laptops, cameras, smart watches, Bluetooth devices, etc.) are strictly prohibited for foreign visitors at EPA facilities.
  8. Visitors will always be escorted by EPA staff.
  9. In order to accommodate all the requests to host foreign visitors, the International Visitors Coordinator will often schedule more than one delegation for the same meeting, providing that using multiple interpreters will not interfere with presentations.
  10. Smoking inside EPA buildings is prohibited.
  11. EPA does not permit visits which have not been scheduled by EPA staff.

What The International Visitors Program Does Not Do:

  1. Arrange training or workshops.
  2. Host visitors for appointments extending longer than one day.
  3. Make travel (hotel, airplane, etc.) arrangements, provide travel funds, or issue letters of invitation.
  4. Arrange meetings at agencies or organizations other than EPA.
  5. Arrange additional appointments at EPA once visitors have arrived.
  6. Provide interpreting or translation services.
  7. Schedule or coordinate interpreters, local transportation, or other support services. It is the responsibility of the visitors or of the sponsoring organization to make all necessary arrangements for these services.
